The CVBtech belt covers
Conveyor belts have to manage a big variety of challenges depending on the materials conveyed and the environmental in which they are operating. For this reason the right choice of the cover is of high importance, in order to reduce:
- damages caused by cutting/ripping, impact, oil, chemicals, heat, fire and cold weather conditions
- wear caused by abrasion
Since conveyor belts are in most of the cases operating in above ground applications, covers should also be protected against UV and ozone. Therefore, all CVBtech covers are:
- ozone resistant, no cracks are identifiable, when tested according EN ISO 1431-1, procedure A (50pphm, 20% elongation, 72 hours at 40oC)
- antistatic (ATEX 94/EC) as per EN ISO 284.
Wear, cut and impact resistance are the most important parameters influencing conveyor belt life. CVBtech offers four different cover types in order to satisfy every demanding application.
High temperatures accelerate the aging of the cover rubber, resulting to cracks in the short term. So it is more economical to use a heat resistant conveyor belt when conveying materials with temperature of 80oC or higher. CVBtech offers 3 heat resistant cover types and it is of high importance to choose the suitable cover considering the shape of the material conveyed, its temperature, the conveyor belt length and speed due to the fact that belt is cooling only on return trip.
In few applications, when inflammable and/or explosive material are conveyed, especially in grain processing, fertilizer plants, thermoelectric power plants, underground mines etc, fire safety is priority. CVBtech offers various cover types especially self extinguishing covers complying with all international standards providing test values at least 3 times above, securing the belt operation safety.
Normal grade covers are damaged when oil or aggressive chemicals penetrate into, resulting to oil/chemical absorption which is affecting cover technical parameters in such degree that cover peeling can be observed. Therefore, special oil and chemical resistant covers have to be applied, which should be resistant to alkali and acid depending on the concentration in the material conveyed.
Features of the covers described above can be combined resulting to advance cover compounds, few of them are listed in the table. CVBtech covers can also be upgraded f.e. to :
- cold resistant covers up to -50oC,
- energy saving covers with minimum elastic deformation, resulting to lower energy consumption
- food approved covers, with low or minimum contamination of the conveyed material into the cover.
Your welcome to contact our application department, one of our engineers will provide you support to choose the right belt with the most suitable cover depending on your belt operating conditions.
